meditation and planning

6 yawns. That's how many times I yawned the first time we meditated in class. Did that number decrease as the week progressed and we meditated more? No. Did I take something away from that experience? Yes. 


This past week, we spent the beginning of every class meditating. And I mean sure I paid attention to what the guy was saying 60% of the time, the remaining 40% I just spent that time planning my long-awaited weekend out. 

here's the plan : 
sat 
- dentist appt
- clean room 
- hw 
- iasa show
- sleepover
sun 
- work on deca 
- sleep ( bc I obv won't sleep at the sleepover)




Looking back at it, I should've stopped planning and meditated to protect my peace. If you couldn't tell, that meant hardly anything went according to plan. 

First, on Saturday my dentist appointment was pushed back by 2 hours so I just waited there doing nothing. Because of that delay, I had to start cleaning my room as soon as I got home bc my mom told me there was no going out till my room was spotless. After cleaning my room I had about 30 minutes left before I had to leave for the iasa show, so I got 0 schoolwork done. The sleepover was fun though. 

On Sunday I got back home at 12pm. I thought I could finish my hw by like 1 and then work on Deca till 4 and just sleep the rest of the day but my parents insisted that I go grocery shopping with them (jk they just bribed me by filling up gas in my car). What I thought was gonna be a short grocery trip turned out to be a 3-hour errand running event. After all that, I came home defeated and passed out until my mom woke me up for dinner and so now I'm typing this and doing other hw while eating. 

As a reflection, I just wish I could've invested that zen time actually zenning instead of planning so that I would've been less disappointed in how my plans followed through. Now back to what I took away from this? make it through now before planning for later.
